Time to lose weight and drop those pounds!

Well, I think I established enough of a case in my last post to prove to myself it’s time to get serious and do something about dropping these pounds.  I jokingly put on my Facebook profile last year that one of my hobbies was to see how long I could not exercise and stay under 200 lbs.  Unfortunately that day just came and left.  After years of staying on the right side of that line, I really busted through it in the past few months.

So, what am I going to do about it?  Blog.  Well, and exercise if I must… okay, and adjust my diet a bit… at some point.  The blog is just a way for me to have some accountability (and a good dose of public humiliation) to force me to keep at it.

I’ll post a weekly weigh-in and waist measurement to track progress.  As scary as it is to post those initial numbers it’s the only way to really get this going.  I’ll talk about and review some training programs, diets, and other fun stuff.  Any comments, ideas, and *encouragement* would be appreciated.

4 surefire ways you know it’s time to lose weight…

1)    The last time you weighed yourself you broke the scale… literally.  (Had to buy a new one to start this!)

2)    You weigh as much as your wife and three children COMBINED.  (Okay, I’m 13 inches taller than my petite wife, and my kids are young, but STILL… that’s a milestone you NEVER want to pass!)

3)    When you put on your pants you experience a “muffin top” effect with your love handles.  (Looks best with a swimsuit – yuk!)

4)    You gained 9 lbs. since buying the domain “drop30pounds.com”, but figure it’s not worth buying another domain name.  (Even if I need to drop 39 pounds now, the point is still the same!)
