About Drop 30 Pounds

About me…

I grew up in the Washington D.C. area and have spent a number of years living in France and Russia.  I love to read and spend time with my family — wife and three awesome kids.  I’m also pretty obsessed with business strategy, operations, and internet marketing.  I love entrepreneurial ventures and moving from project to project.

About why I started this blog…

This is a personal blog aimed at my quest for losing weight. I’ve lacked the motivation and accountability to do anything about my increasing “weight problem” the past couple years, so I figured that a little public humiliation and accountability might do the trick. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

I recently turned 30, so finding myself (at least) 30 pounds overweight — I figured I’d try to reverse this bad trend and start exercising again. I just celebrated my 9th wedding anniversary and have 3 awesome kids. The kids are great at reminding me about “daddy’s fat tummy” and have come up with quite a few jokes about it. Not that they aren’t cute, but it is a little depressing.

So, as the velocity of weight gain has shifted in the past year from gradual to catastrophic, here I am, finally trying to do something about it.

I welcome any comments, feedback, suggestions, ideas about what’s worked for you or someone you know. Any encouragement is also appreciated :-)

Oh, and with me writing this blog, I better add one more…

2)    Please forgive the potential (and inevitable) lack of political correctness.  I don’t mean to offend, but I also think it’s a waste of time to dance around certain issues.  For example, I may abbreviate “overweight” with “fat”.  C’mon – it’s way easier and gets the same point across.  And if I happen to make fun of fat people, it’s okay cause I’m one of them, so I’m allowed, right?  Besides, I’m looking for some social pressure to get OUT of that herd… I mean crowd – dang it, there I go…
